Anonciatha smiles shyly as she shares her delight at that decision. Had she left, she would be one of the women on the waiting list to rejoin the cooperative. Now she is benefiting from the support that Africa Development has provided through an ERM Foundation grant. “I thank God for giving me the wisdom to stay,” she says “because now I don’t have to worry about where the next meal will come from.”
When asked what she had done with the extra income she received, she points to her house. “This is thanks to ADP!” She explains that being a widow she never expected to live in beautiful house like this one. Her house was really getting old with many cracks but with the extra money and a small loan from the savings and credit program the cooperative offers, she was able cement her floors and plaster her house. Her next big project is her roof which often leaks when the rains are heavy. What Anonciatha is most proud off is that she can now tithe to her church and hopes to be a blessing to others.
